Parole in South Africa focuses on parole as an integral part of the broader criminal justice system in post-apartheid South Africa. It serves as a guide for everyone in the practice and administration of parole and correctional supervision. It reflects on and analyses the law regarding parole in South Africa in terms of the new Correctional Services Act 111 of 1998 and the ever-expanding jurisprudence that has emerged under the interim Constitution of 1993 and the current Constitution. Parole in South Africa hopes to inspire and facilitate best practices regarding parole and correctional supervision in South African prisons in line with international best practices and the constitutional values underpinning our 1996 Constitution.
