Property Buffs - Meet our pumped-up & principled property law library series

THE IMPORTANCE OF PROPERTY LAW
“The substantive social and economic reforms foreseen by the new constitutional order can only be realised if reformist goals and norms find expression in the rules and practices of property law.” – the late Prof Andre van der Walt, world-renowned property law scholar and first incumbent of the South African Research Chair in Property Law at Stellenbosch University.

Recognising the need for a holistic library that contains decades of learning, information and history, Juta Publishing has updated and cemented its property law titles into a powerhouse resource that remains current.

“This series revisits and reassesses the whole of South African property law,” says Frances Ngubeni, Juta Publisher managing the rapidly expanding property law library.

The library includes established law titles, common law, case law and academic writing. It considers:

  1. How property law was influenced by apartheid law;

  2. How property law responds to the new constitutional dispensation (including land reform);

  3. How property law can contribute to the transformation of South African law and society

  4. Case law, legislation, and new developments are discussed to provide practical reference tools to:
  • property law practitioners
  • judges and magistrates
  • justice officials
  • law teachers, academics and students
  • subject specialists
  • researchers
  • libraries

All titles in the series were published in collaboration with the South African Research Chair in Property Law at the University of Stellenbosch.

“We thank the South African Research Chair in Property Law at Stellenbosch University for working with us to build the library and produce works that contribute to the development of property law. Especially the late Prof Andre van der Walt, Prof Gerrit Pienaar, Zsa-Zsa Boggenpoel and Juanita Pienaar, who all worked as volume and series editors for the Property Law Library. Additionally, we express our gratitude to all the authors, in practice and academia, whose contributions have made Juta’s Property Law Library a leading one in the field.”
