Michael Kuper
He has nearly 30 years of experience in corporate governance, risk management and internal audit and has worked with a range of local and global clients
He served as a board member of Pricewaterhouse- Coopers’ Africa Governance and South African Governance Board between 2011 and 2014, and is a member of the  rm’s Business School Board
He is a full member of the King Committee on Governance in South Africa and is Chairman of the South Africa Corporate Governance Network
Anton was elected 2014–2015 Global Chairman of  e Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) at its annual meeting in London He is the  rst individual from the African continent and the  rst South African to lead the world’s largest internal audit organisation (185 000 members)
Michael Kuper SC

Michael Kuper is a senior South African commercial advocate (barrister) and arbitrator in practice at the Johannesburg Bar (Society of Advocates Witwatersrand)
He took Silk in 1984 and therea er served as the Chairman of the Johannesburg Bar Council on various occasions and was also the Vice-Chairman of the General Council of the Bar of South Africa He has served as an Acting Judge on various occasions
Together with Mervyn King, Michael led the initiative to establish the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa, a joint venture between the business, legal and accounting professions, and has served as its Chairman since its establishment in 1996  e foundation provides administered arbitration and mediation services throughout Southern Africa and its work has transformed arbitration in this country
Michael has participated extensively both as counsel and arbitrator in domestic South Africa arbitrations, as well as regional or cross-border arbitrations in SADC, including the Indian Ocean Islands, and in international arbitrations in the United Kingdom, France, Nigeria and the United States of America He has served on arbitration panels appointed by the International Chamber of Commerce and by the London Court of International Arbitration He has acted as lead counsel on behalf of South Africa in arbitration proceedings before the Permanent Court of Arbitration He is Country Rapporteur for South Africa to the International Chamber of Commerce and to the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law
Michael also serves on the Management Committee of Africa ADR, an initiative intended to provide standardised arbitration and mediation services throughout Africa
