Stellenbosch Law Students: The Forum
The Forum is an annual event organised by the Juridical Society (‘JV’) of the Stellenbosch University Faculty of Law which aims to bring together the different year groups of Maties law students into a single, informal, relaxed setting in which they engage in current topics in the legal world, creating a marketplace for the exchange of thoughts and ideas whilst sampling some of the Stellenbosch region’s finest wines. This is accompanied by a host of gourmet foods on sale and soft tunes, which caps off in a round of dance moves on the dance floor. To add to this, students don their finest white (and sometimes multi-coloured) linen in honour of their Roman Law roots, as they parade the Klein Libertas Theatre in their togas.
This year, each student received a branded wine glass and a tasting of the wines on display. Despite the
gloomy weather, students turned out in their droves, with over 300 of them braving the storm. A #jutaforum Selfie competition and a lucky draw added to the festivity of the night. Mike Noelle, Nkateko Berry and Cindy Pretorius were the lucky winners of a R750 Juta voucher.
The JV would like to extend our gratitude to Juta for their generous support, and to Kleine Libertas Theatre for the oversight of the organisation of the event.
