SOCIOLOGY
A South African introduction
P STEWART & J ZAAIMAN
Interaction with patients, their families and colleagues is a core aspect of the daily activities of all healthcare professionals. It is therefore vital for them to have a sound knowledge of why people behave the way they do, why they may behave differently in the healthcare environment and what happens in times of illness and stress.
Each chapter addresses key issues, topics and debates in sociology today, and uses contemporary and current South African case studies to make the material relevant and meaningful to students. Chapter introductions serve as a narrative linking and providing cross-references to material covered in other chapters, where appropriate.
